• Alternating between a venue in Hanover and a venue in Walkerton to be determined


• First meeting was held on Friday December 19, 2025 in Hanover 


• The focus of these meetings will be discussions of success and progress on individual's research and tree development


• Trips may be scheduled to local locations of genealogical information or tools (archives, libraries, etc.) depending on member interest

• In 2025 last hike was Nov 27th due to favourable weather conditions.


• Hikes are generally 4-5 km on average within Grey and Bruce Counties -


• Easy to moderate challenging trails normally take approximately 2 hours to complete.


• E-mails are typically sent out the weekend before the proposed hike


• E-mails include the trail route, its description, and rating along with directions to the trail and requesting members respond if participating.


• Car pooling is encouraged


• As weather warms up opportunties to have a picnic lunch on completing the trail


• Hikes have included: Sulphur Springs, Schmidt Lake, Brant Tact Trails, Kinghurst Forest Nature Reserve, Kolapore Wilderness Trails, Pretty River, Old Baldy, Hoggs Falls and many more

NOTICE TO: Scotch Tasting Group Members: Spring 2026 Tasting Event

Your committee co-chairs have their thinking caps on and are pursuing several ideas for our next tasting in early May at the Hanover Masonic Lodge. A theme has not been decided yet and we are open to suggestions from the group. If you have enjoyed a tasting in the past or are a new member we would love to hear from you. • Various events planned throughout the year-dates will be provided to members via an e-mail


• Location at Hanover Masonic Lodge from 2:00 to 4:00pm


• Members are offered a sample of 3 different scotches accompanied with unique food pairings 


• Each sample chosen for their unique taste and character accompanied by a description that will enhance the tasting experience 


• Members experience the differences water, location and maturation can bring to a scotch distillate


• Sessions often include informed commentary by a professional taster that includes history of distilling, methods and what we should experience

• Week of June 8th, 2026 (Date TBD)-"Backyard Barbecue" a Patio Wine/Cocktail Pairing-in Walkerton (location TBD) 


• Week of September 14, 2026 (Date TBD)-"Niagara Area Winery-Tasting and Talk"-We are working on bringing a wine representative here with their wine for a tasting and talk. (location TBD). Last year Colanerie Estates Winery tasting in Walkerton was a great success. 


• Week of November 1, 2026- Hope is to taste some wines from Brtitish Columbia.


• New Year's Eve Dinner and Wine Pairing-From the great response of Dec 31, 2025 event we will be organizing an event for Dec 31, 2026 New Year's Eve and provide an update this summer
